1. 护士
    A nurse is a person whose job is to care for people who are ill.

    e.g. She had spent 29 years as a nurse...
           她做了29年的护士。
    e.g. Patients were dying because of an acute shortage of nurses.
           因为护理人员严重不足，患者生命垂危。

2. 护理;照顾;照料
    If you nurse someone, you care for them when they are ill.

    e.g. All the years he was sick my mother had nursed him...
           他生病的这些年来，我妈妈一直照料着他。
    e.g. She rushed home to nurse her daughter back to health.
           她赶回家去，要照顾女儿恢复健康。

3. 调养，调治(伤病)
    If you nurse an illness or injury, you allow it to get better by resting as much as possible.

    e.g. We're going to go home and nurse our colds.
           我们打算回家调养感冒。

4. 怀有，抱有(强烈的希望、愿望等)
    If you nurse an emotion or desire, you feel it strongly for a long time.

    e.g. Jane still nurses the pain of rejection...
           简仍因遭到拒绝而痛苦。
    e.g. He had nursed an ambition to lead his own big orchestra.
           他一直有一个梦想，希望能指挥一支自己的顶级管弦乐队。

5. 保姆;保育员
    A nurse is a person who is trained to look after young children.

    e.g. Every morning she got up early with the children and the nurse.
           每天早晨，她和孩子、保姆一起早早起床。

6. (婴儿)吃奶;(母亲)给…喂奶
    When a baby nurses or when its mother nurses it, it feeds by sucking milk from its mother's breast.

    e.g. Most authorities recommend letting the baby nurse whenever it wants.
           大部分权威人士建议婴儿饿了就随时喂奶。
    e.g. ...young women nursing babies...
           给孩子喂奶的年轻妈妈
