1. 不考虑;不理会
    If you dismiss something, you decide or say that it is not important enough for you to think about or consider.

    e.g. Mr Wakeham dismissed the reports as speculation...
           韦克厄姆先生把这些报道当作臆测而不予考虑。
    e.g. I would certainly dismiss any allegations of impropriety by the Labour Party...
           对于工党指责我行为不正当，我当然不会理会。

2. (从头脑中)去除;不再考虑;抛弃
    If you dismiss something from your mind, you stop thinking about it.

    e.g. I dismissed him from my mind...
           我不再想他了。
    e.g. 'It's been a lovely day,' she said, dismissing the episode.
           “这是开心的一天，”她说，将那事抛到了脑后。

3. 解雇;免…的职;开除
    When an employer dismisses an employee, the employer tells the employee that they are no longer needed to do the job that they have been doing.

    e.g. ...the power to dismiss civil servants who refuse to work...
           开除拒不上班的公务员的权力
    e.g. The military commander has been dismissed.
           军队司令已经被免职了。

4. 让…离去;把…打发走;解散;遣散
    If you are dismissed by someone in authority, they tell you that you can go away from them.

    e.g. Two more witnesses were called, heard and dismissed...
           又有两个目击者被传唤，提供证言后获准退席。
    e.g. The hired carriage was dismissed.
           雇来的马车被打发走了。

5. (法官)驳回，不予受理
    When a judge dismisses a case against someone, he or she formally states that there is no need for a trial, usually because there is not enough evidence for the case to continue.

    e.g. An American judge yesterday dismissed murder charges against Dr Jack Kevorkian.
           昨天一个美国法官驳回了对杰克·凯沃尔基安医生的谋杀指控。
    e.g. ...their attempt to have the case against them dismissed.
           想让指控他们的诉讼案被驳回的企图
