1. 紧紧抓住;抱紧
    If you cling to someone or something, you hold onto them tightly.

    e.g. Another man was rescued as he clung to the riverbank...

    e.g. She had to cling onto the door handle until the pain passed...

2. 抓住(职位或财产)不放
    If someone clings to a position or a possession they have, they do everything they can to keep it even though this may be very difficult.

    e.g. He appears determined to cling to power...
           看来他决心要抓住权力不放。
    e.g. Another minister clung on with a majority of only 18...

3. (衣服)紧附，黏着
    Clothes that cling to you stay pressed against your body when you move.

    e.g. His sodden trousers were clinging to his shins.
           湿淋淋的裤子紧紧粘在他小腿上。

4. 黏附；粘住
    Something that is clinging to something else is stuck on it or just attached to it.

5. 缠住;依附
    If someone clings to a person they are fond of, they do not allow that person to be free or independent.

6. 墨守，坚持(观念或行为方式)
    If you cling to an idea or way of behaving, you continue to believe in its value or importance, even though it may no longer be valid or useful.

    e.g. They know scholars reject their legend, but they still cling to their belief...
           尽管知道学者们不相信他们的传说，他们还是坚持自己的信仰。
    e.g. They're clinging to the past.
           他们对过去念念不忘。
