A novel macromonomer , polystyrene capped with thienyl group ( PST Thp ), which can undergos oxidation coupling polymerization , has been synthesized by anionic polymerization of styrene with butyl lithium as the initiator and 3 bromo thiophene as the terminator . Its homopolymerization and copolymerization with thiophene in the presence of anhydrous ferric chloride produced poly ( thiophene g styrene ) ( PThp g ST ) and were studied by GPC , FTIR and UV Vis spectroscopy .
